The BMW Malaysian Open in Kuala Lumpur is celebrating its half a decade of existence this week and to launch the event women's tennis players gathered for a party at the venue overlooking the city's signature Petronas Towers.
Czech world No.75 Karolina Pliskova is the tournament's defending champion. Her twin sister Kristyna is also in the draw. Last year in Linz they became the first twins ever to win a WTA doubles title.
Dominika Cibulkova, playing her first tournament since becoming a Top 10 player, opted for the Malaysian Open instead of joining her teammates for the Fed Cup this weekend in Quebec. Cibulkova is the top seed at the event.
The most glowing face at the player party was the 43-year-old Japanese Kimiko Date-Krumm, although her participation was cut short as she retired in the first round against Cagla Buyukakcay.
The night also featured a fashion show including our WTA players. (photos: BMW Malaysian Open)
