World No.89 Caroline Garcia produced the biggest surprise of the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL in Acapulco by taking out second seed Eugenie Bouchard 3-6 6-4 6-1 in the quarterfinals. Before this week, Garcia had never been to a WTA quarterfinal (and now she's in semis!), she had never beaten a Top 40 player, let alone Top 20, and she was actually on a ten-match losing streak prior to the tournament.
The 19-year-old Bouchard will luckily have many nicer memories to remember this trip to Mexico for.
The Canadian enjoyed refreshing in the ocean after practice and a wonderful photoshoot on the beach.
An exciting helicopter ride to her first water tennis encounter, in the middle of Acapulco Bay.
And who was her opponent? None other than Maria Sharapova's man Grigor Dimitrov.
But most importantly, during her stay in Acapulco Bouchard stopped being a teenager! On February 25th, she turned 20. (photos via Bouchard's Twitter)
