Wearing the EleVen Women’s Fiore Mixed Doubles Dress,
LeBron James Venus Williams needed just 56 minutes to avenge her defeat to Ana Ivanovic from the January’s Auckland final. After saving a match point and winning a thriller against Angelique Kerber in the previous round, Ivanovic allowed Williams a straightforward victory in the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, saving just one of six break points and converting none of her own two break opportunities to fall 6-2 6-1. Williams won all her points on first serve (18 of 18), implying that Ivanovic scored no points on her opponent’s first serve.
Can you believe that the official Twitter account of the Dubai tournament confused Venus for basketball player LeBron James haha? They removed the tweet, but screenshots of swift Twitter followers will make it last forever.
The tournament then followed up with tweets to explain the mistake, which happened to be of technical nature:
@tumcarayol @LeBronJames @AnaIvanovic when we tweet from instagram it changes @Venuseswilliams’ tag! Twitter seems to want him on the court
@Sherryjoshua @LeBronJames @AnaIvanovic we don’t know why twitter keeps changing our tags from our Instagram account yet.. big glitch!
Second seed Agnieszka Radwanska wasted a 4-1 lead in the first set and lost to Flavia Pennetta 6-4 6-1 in round two, while eighth seed Caroline Wozniacki advanced with a 6-4 6-4 victory over Annika Beck. (photo: Jimmie48)
