Women's Tennis Blog's reader favorite sections include WTA Players and their Love Partners and Childhood Photos and Videos. For our 2014 Australian Open finalist Dominika Cibulkova I included a love story with her beau Miso Navara, while for the other finalist Li Na I decided to feature a number of childhood photos of the Chinese tennis superstar born on February 26, 1982, in Wuhan, Hubei, China.
Above is the French Open champion as a 100-day-old baby. How sweet!
This is six-year-old Li with her parents, father Li Sheng-Peng and mother Li Yan-Ping. Li is the only child.
Following her father's footsteps, Li first started playing badminton at age six (just for reference, in the above photo in red dress Li was five years old) and then transitioned to tennis at the age of nine, according to her WTA player profile. The reason behind the decision to switch to tennis was a recommendation of coach Xia Xiyao of the Wuhan youth tennis club, who recognized Li's potential for the sport.
And here's some teenage photo footage of our Chinese tennis force.
And last but not least, check out the photo of little Li Na that I had previously featured: Fashionable Li posing in bell pants. Good luck, Li, in your third Australian Open final!
