Women's Tennis Blog gets an overhaul

New design of Women's Tennis Blog

Women's Tennis Blog has a brand new layout. Finally! :) The new design was launched on November 25th and you may have already noticed it. The old theme served us all well for more than six years, which is practically 20 years in the world of Internet and technology, and it was time to say goodbye. It will take some time for us to adjust to the new design, but not too much, as it is clean, functional, easy to use and created for online magazine, blogs, news and editorial ventures. Moreover, it was built with latest coding standards, optimized for mobile devices and all sorts of screens.

I really hope that you will enjoy it and have a good user experience. In the coming period I will experiment with what the theme has to offer and maybe add some widgets or change colors of certain sections.

If you happen to notice some glitches, feel free to let me know, either in the comments below or via the contact form. Of course, I'd also like to hear your first impressions and suggestions.

I would also like to use this opportunity to mention that Women's Tennis Blog was included in "20 Favorite Tennis Blogs of 2013" by Midwest Sports. Wonderful!

Here's how they described Women's Tennis Blog:

With a focus on women tennis players, you’ll find tournament coverage, fashion and tennis culture news with tons of photos and tweets from your favorite female tennis athletes.

Here's to the enjoyable experience of reading Women's Tennis Blog for at least another half a decade!

Thank you of being part of Women's Tennis Blog's success!

This new look is refreshing and clean. Although I did like the old one too! Keep up the good work, Marija. :)

Tenniz-fan, thank you! :) I was quite bored with the old design, although it was still functional to a relatively sufficient extent. Modernization in design is always a must for blogs, even if they are not tech-related. I'm glad I've finally carried out my overhaul. :)

Marija, continuing our conversation from a previous post: Well done to show the number of comments on each post. And as for the rest – I don't care; that is: I liked the previous format at least as much as I like this one, if not more. But I guess it's just my failure to understand that "Modernization in design is always a must for blogs". For I'd say: once design is in place, improving the content is the true 'must'. Cheers.

congrats on the feature in the Top 20 tennis blog thing. You must be so proud of all your hard work. I do very much enjoy reading all the posts even the fashion related ones, which I personally don't care for. As far as the new lay out is concerned, the update so people can use it on their mobile devices is very good, considering how cheap tablets are becoming and how much people use their smart phones. To quote the Doctor "Oh! You redecorated, I don't like it." from the Doctor Who 50th Special. Sorry, but it will take me a little time to get used to the new layout. All for the best. keep up the great work Marja.

JohnnyB, thank you! We will further improve it when we publish your guest post these days! ;)

Tulp, I would say that both the good content and the good layout are a true must, they complement each other. I'm glad that you liked the previous theme and that it will not be hard for you to adapt to this one.

P!nky, I like to receive recognition, but still every day I remind myself of my shortcomings in terms of my work on WTB, of the areas I'd like to improve. :P A lot of people are reading news on their smart phones, even I am all the time, and that number will be increasing over time, so this new design, besides being refreshing, at least to me, is an improvement in functionality.
