Just days after Ana Ivanovic’s contract with coach Nigel Sears expired, Maria Sharapova announced the end of her three-year cooperation with Thomas Hogstedt. The Russian will reveal her new coach in a few days.

Due to personal issues, he was not able to travel in the near future and we both agreed it was the right time to move our separate ways. I am very thankful for all his work, and wish him much success in the future.

Hogstedt joined Sharapova’s team when she was ranked No.18 and hadn’t been past a Grand Slam quarterfinal since the 2008 Australian Open, still finding her form after the long shoulder-injury absence.

Under the full-time coaching of Hogstedt, Sharapova completed a career Grand Slam by winning Roland Garros in 2012, climbed back to No.1, in addition to winning six WTA titles. Moreover, she reached three more Grand Slam finals, the WTA Championships final and won the silver medal at the Olympics. (source: Beyond the Baseline, photo: © Neal Trousdale)

  1. I wonder if Ana will give him a call…would not hurt to chat and see what kind of ideas he might have for her.
