Roland Garros 2013 is gaining momentum and after the rain-affected Day 3 we already have enough material to assess the quality of the Grand Slam regarding fashion, as we have been doing with all the major tournaments since 2010.
World number one and absolute favorite for the Roland Garros 2013 title Serena Williams is working the solid grey Nike Women's Summer 1 Wrap Knit Dress with orange shorts underneath. The band below the chest highlights the waist, the slit on the skirt brings extra elegance, while the upper part of the dress is characterized by the V-neck and elastic tank straps.
Ana Ivanovic is wearing the wonderful Adidas Women's Roland Garros 2013 Dress in navy with orange accents – in my opinion the prettiest dress of the tournament and perfect color combination for red clay.
Defending champion Maria Sharapova's style includes a greyish purple dress with narrow bright yellow straps and details providing a pop of color. Here you can see the Russian fashionista talking about the features of the dress.
COMPARE ROLAND GARROS FASHION FROM THE PAST YEARS:
- The variety of styles at the 2012 French Open
- Spring tennis fashion in 2011 – grand claycourts edition
- Roland Garros 2010 – WTA outfits radar
I loved Venus Williams' hairstyle during her exceptionally short French Open campaign, while the pink and white EleVen pants and long-sleeve shirt cannot top my list of the best outfits, even though it's not bad.
Agnieszka and Urszula Radwanska are representing Lotto, and the younger sis was the first to give big exposure to the brand by taking out Venus Williams at the beginning of the tournament in what was the match of the day. The Polish sisters are wearing Women's Spring Natty Dress in velvet and rose.
Mona Barthel lost to compatriot Angelique Kerber in the first round, but her unique outfit managed to grab attention – the Black Vintage Skirt and the complementary tank from Denise Cronwall's latest collection. I'm proud to have the same clothes in my possession, courtesy of the designer herself.
Svetlana Kuznetsova has been wearing Qiaodan since January 2013 and the Chinese brand decided to contrast the red clay with the blue sky print on a T-shirt, skirt and headband. Fits perfectly in the … fashion misses category. In her first win on red clay this season, Caroline Wozniacki debuted the blue version of the Barricade summer dress and new yellow shoes designed by Stella McCartney for Adidas.
Sloane Stephens's Under Armour kit is in the attention-grabbing color of the tennis ball, highlighted by light blue shoes and accessories.
Rain and cold didn't allow Jelena Jankovic to show her Fila dress from the Summer 2013 Baseline collection, but she sure gave enough publicity to the Italian brand with her amazing comeback from 5-0 down in the second set against Daniela Hantuchova in the first round.
Dominika Cibulkova and Samantha Stosur opened their Roland Garros action on Day 3 with straight-set victories, the Slovak wearing the cute navy Lacoste Spring Pleated Dress, while the Australian's Asics dress is orange, the color she most frequently wears.
What do you think about the fashion at the cold and rainy Roland Garros 2013? Do you agree with me that Ana Ivanovic's style is the best? Would you add someone to my fashion overview? (photos via Roland Garros Facebook Page, Double Bagel)
