This has been a busy week in the tennis world, alongside the Brisbane International, Auckland and Shenzhen were played, and not to mention that the WTA stars have also been active at the Hopman Cup. Serena Williams won Brisbane, while Agnieszka Radwanska and Li Na lifted trophies in Auckland and Shenzhen.

Playing her first ASB Classic in Auckland, Agnieszka Radwanska won her first title on the Australian ground and opened a season with a title for the first time. The top-seeded Pole didn’t lose a set all week, against Greta Arn, Simona Halep, Elena Vesnina, Jamie Hampton (although, in that semifinal she did go through two tiebreaks) and finally Yanina Wickmayer 6-4 6-4, the 2010 Auckland winner and 2011 finalist.

Li Na was top seed at the inaugural Shenzhen Longgang Gemdale Open and after reaching the final without dropping a set, in the title match against Klara Zakopalova, Li served 10 doubles faults to none of her opponent and rallied from being broken in the first game of the decider to finally win 6-3 1-6 7-5. Before the final she defeated Mandy Minella, Julia Cohen, eighth seed Bojana Jovanovski in the quarters and sixth seed Peng Shuai in the semis. (photos: Ralf Reinecke, © Neal Trousdale)

  1. Agnieszka match against Jamie Hampton I believe actually scare her. Is the first time I watch her call her for her coach to come and talk her in long long time. Jamie look like girl in mission after she came back from 0-4. She was hitting winner left and right. Radwanska was scare but she settle and won. Sadly miss the final. Darn time zone difference.

  2. I would have liked to have seen that. I can remember maybe two or three times last year when he came and talked to her court-side, but I’ve never seen her call for him!
