Karolina Sprem marries fellow tennis player Marcos Baghdatis

Just days after our reader Anastasia suggested a WTA Players and their Boyfriends/Husbands series, we already have a good reason to launch it - two years into their relationship, women's tennis player Karolina Sprem and ATP star Marcos Baghdatis decided to tie the knot this weekend in the bride's native Croatia.

In a splendid setting of a Trakoscan Castle, the 27-year-olds married in a small chapel next to the castle, while during the wedding they were changing sites in a carriage, using umbrellas to hide from the paparazzi.

The bride looked beautiful in a pearl-adorned wedding dress, wearing her hair down with romantic curls accessorized by a pearl headband.

It's amazing how undercover this relationship was, even though they are both tennis players, isn't it? Think of Wozzilroy!

UPDATE: The latest news I've received is that Karolina Sprem is pregnant!

To get back to the talk about the new Women's Tennis Blog's series. From now on, every once in a while I will dedicate an article to one tennis couple, precisely to a WTA player and her boyfriend/husband. Feel free to send me hints – photos and information about the partners of WTA stars. You can use the contact form, reach me via comments here or even on Facebook. I hope you will like the series! Consider the possibility of not limiting this feature to heterosexual couples. I know there aren't that many "out" players active on the WTA tour, but if we could treat all individuals–and value their commitments–equally, that would be a step in the right direction.

Ana, I will take that into consideration, why not. It didn't even cross my mind! Thanks for the suggestion.

Having seen both Karolina and Marcos at the Olympic Tennis yesterday I can confirm that she is most definitely pregnant….by quite a few months I would say.
