Jankovic opens 2012 with Fila, Stosur with Asics

Two surprising fashion switches welcomed us at the very start of 2012. Without prior notice, Jelena Jankovic took the 2012 courts in Fila and not in Anta which had been her clothing sponsor for three years. Samantha Stosur also made an apparel change and substituted her Lacoste tennis clothes with Asics, whose shoes she has been wearing for two years.

No official information on Jankovic's cooperation with Fila has been announced yet, but the world No.14 debuted her possible new clothing sponsor in the first round of the Brisbane International, in the match against Carla Suarez Navarro. The Fila Center Court Dress was on the courts for two more matches, until Jankovic lost to Francesca Schiavone in a quarterfinal marathon, 5-7 7-6(2) 6-3, after wasting two match points in the second set.

As for Samantha Stosur, her deal with Asics is official, implying the end of her sponsorship by Lacoste. In the following video Stosur is saying a few words about her joining the Asics team.

Just like Jankovic, Stosur premiered her Asics clothing at the Brisbane International. She was seeded No.1 but was knocked out by Iveta Benesova in the second round, 6-4 6-2.

Marine, thanks for this update. For the others, 11 hours ago JJ said on her Facebook:

"I'm proud to announce my new sponsorship agreement with Fila. I have always been attracted to Fila’s fashion-forward designs and especially appreciate their commitment to infusing our sport with beauty and fashion. Fila has such a rich tennis history and it is an honor to be wearing the same brand as the stars I admired as a child."

Stosur looks good in Asics, but I'm not sure about Fila on JJ…I think Anta looked much better on her!
