Caroline Wozniacki joined Venus Williams as a player who has won four successive titles at New Haven and became only the tenth woman in the Open Era to win a WTA event four times in a row. After a bye in the first round, Wozniacki defeated Polona Hercog, Christina McHale, Francesca Schiavone, and finally qualifier Petra Cetkovska 6-4 6-1.
After an alarming start of the US Open Series with two losses of two matches played, and a lot of talk about her rumored boyfriend, professional golfer Rory McIlory, the top-ranked Wozniacki improved her hopes for the US Open with a title run at the New Haven Open at Yale. The Dane is now 17-0 at the tournament.
Czech world No.40 Cetkovska had won seven matches with the qualifying rounds, and eliminated big names such as Agnieszka Radwanska, Marion Bartoli and Li Na from the main draw. The 26-year-old is yet to win a WTA title.
Rory was in the stands watching the final and above you can see a photo of him and Caroline with the Yale University football team on Friday.
