Serena Williams will not play Roland Garros, but that doesn’t mean Nike hasn’t prepared a dress for the missing 13-time Grand Slam champion. Big stars have dedicated clothes even for events they are not attending.

At the 2011 French Open, Serena was supposed to wear a so called Nike Women’s Summer Smash Knit Dress. The dress is pink with can-can ruffles and an underlayer providing a touch of gray. The shoes are Nike Mirabella.

Talking about Nike and their latest designs, here’s a detailed story about Maria Sharapova‘s French Open outfit. (source: Tennis Identity)

  1. The dress is pretty. But I have to say that from some reason I just don’t like these ruffles that are often put on bottom of the dress. I would love it more if the dress was all simple and the bottom was more similar to the top. But maybe it’s just strange for me to see Serena in something so feminine and flowerly.

  2. Marine, I agree with you, some time ago when I saw the dress on TennisWarehouse I thought it was Vika’s dress! Maybe she will wear it, as happened for last US Open…

  3. I don’t think Vika will wear it, she didn’t wear the Aussie open one, she’s in top5 now and I think Nike has already prepared a dress for her, probably the same as the one she wore on latest tournamnets but in different colour. And I think this dress would look ridiculous on her, I just don’t see Vika in these Barbie outfits, we all know her temper. 😀

  4. Mirjana, yes it’s a bit of a Barbie outfit, that’s why it’s surprising why it was picked for Serena as well. I think it could suit a player like Goerges .

  5. I really hope Vika will wear a custom dress because in my opinion the AO one seemed really designed for Barbie and in some ways I find it very similar to this!

  6. I’m not impressed by this dress either. I think Nike is good, but adidas is better right now, even better than Sharapova’s dresses.
