Dear readers,

I’m excited to announce that Women’s Tennis Blog is four years old now and that I’ve made sure to celebrate the birthday in style – by organizing three giveaways. During the next seven days, and starting today, you will have an opportunity to WIN FREE STUFF HERE! 🙂

Before proceeding to prizes, I’d like to shortly reflect on the four years behind my work here at Women’s Tennis Blog. My first article was published on March 31, 2007 and back then I simply started blogging because I had a lot of free time and I thought that writing online would be an interesting new thing to try out. I wasn’t even thinking long-term, but I fell in love with blogging and the fact that I am a persevering person happened to make this blog what it is today.

Blogging has given me many rewards: writing about the sport that I love, meeting numerous good people from all over the world (it’s wierd, but for the long period of four years I received maybe only 3-4 insulting comments, and you know how people can be harsh online), I’ve perfected my knowledge of the English language, and I’ve learned many things about the Internet world and trends. All of these things are giving me a sense of accomplishment, especially that I’ve been maintaining Women’s Tennis Blog pretty much by myself for the whole time.

Rewards are also the praise you receive from people, as well as links from authorities such as BBC, Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, Blic (one of leading Serbian news sources) and many influential blogs. Also, I’ve never even imagined that I would interview tennis greats such as Lindsay Davenport, Tracey Austin and Chris Evert.

Moreover, how great it is to be able to obtain things for free and make people happy by giving them presents. 🙂 In the coming days, actually starting from today, there will be three contests on Women’s Tennis Blog and you will have a chance to easily win the following prizes:

1. Adidas Adizero tank and skort or Maria Sharapova’s Oz Open Dress provided by Keller Sports

2. Fetch t-shirt

3. A pair of vintage earrings from Stevie’s Artisans urban folk art shop

What do you think about the prizes? I think they’re pretty cool! 🙂

Stay tuned, the first contest will be announced in just a few moments!

  1. Phaura Reinz, thank you! 🙂 Great to have you as a reader!

Join the contest, I know it’s for women, but you can give it to a friend.

  2. I love this blog, it’s simple to read, there is a variety of information which is very refreshing and also 99% of people who comment here are so nice. I am a big fan of blogs, but not as an author, only as a commentator (alghough I am playing with the idea of setting up my own thing) and your blog is one of the best. And I’m not saying it to win a T-shir 😛 😛 😛

  3. Happy fourth birthday WTB and best wishes to you Marija – in your work and life. You did a great job.
Congratulations for it and for obtaining such a good awards – the best brands outfits.

  4. Congratulations Marija, you are doing a great job and should be very proud of what you’ve achieved. The WTA should hire you as a press officer! 🙂

  5. Marine, thank you so much. The way you described my blog is exactly what I imagined it to be in the first place. I wanted to make a blog offering a little bit of everything with easy-to-read posts, that don’t bore people. As for commentators, well, I have to say I didn’t expect such a generous and loving group of people and it really is a great reward.

Kartikeya, thanks a lot! Make sure you also post on FB in order to qualify for the 1st contest.

Soko, thank you for nice wishes, I hope that the future will only be better.

Richard, hahaha cool! 🙂 You know, economic situation in Serbia is pretty desperate, so I may indeed use your recommendation. 🙂

And one more thing, guys are also welcome to join the contest, even though women’s dresses are awarded. You can give your prize to a friend and make her happy! 🙂 Do join! https://womenstennisblog.com/2011/03/31/win-free-womens-tennis-apparel-adidas-adizero-outfit-or-sharapova-nike-dress/

  6. Neal, thank you for providing me with so many beautiful and fresh tennis photos! 🙂 You are definitely an important contributor of WTB.

Of course, don’t be shy, join the contest as well! 🙂

  7. Hey, when it comes to photos I am going to see Fed Cup competition btw Slovakia and Serbia in April,so I will try to take a few snapshots from the action. I am not the best photographer in the world but if I get some nice pics I shall send it to you. Cannot wait to go :-P!

  8. Happy Birthday WTA Blog!

Only four years? i thought it was older than that..

This encourages me to start my own blog. Blogging about tennis sounds like fun!

  9. Maja, heyyy thanks thanks! 😀 You’re one of my earliest supporters 🙂

Sarah, it is fun! 🙂 Although, 4 years is a very long time in the Internet world. I’ve seen dozens of blogs come and go. Rare are those that survive for even a year. People lose interest in writing, give up when they see that they can’t have an overnight success, etc.

  10. Marija, I’ve had the same experience. I had a blog, just for fun, but gave up because I had too much to do. I think those blogs which are set up for business purpose often end up badly because it’s a bit of a Murphy’s law. The more you push it the less you’ll get in return. Blog should be fun in the first place.

  11. Marija, you did an amazing job in these four years and I think we all thank you for the time and energy you dedicate to your blog… You have prepared us a few articles to read even when you go on holiday, and that’s great! I read the blog almost every day and is always a pleasure to comment, I don’t remember most offensive comments and it’s nice to share the passion for this sport and to be able to observe all its aspects (including fashion :P) …So thank you for this wonderful contests and this wonderful prizes!

  12. Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m just reding your blog for a few months, you know, but I already love it and I don’t want to miss it anymore.
Furthermore you helped me a lot to come by with my own blog. A big “thank you” for it.
I hope, you’ll be there in the next four years, too. And after that four years and after that too.
Have a great B-day-party with your blog!

  13. Marine, that’s true. It’s very important to start blogging primarily for yourself, not being hungry for visitors, money, comments, or whatever, because you will have none of those in the early stages. Just as with everything in life, it takes time to make something worthwhile. A lot of people are not ready to accept that it takes work and time.

Francesca, you said so many beautiful things, thank you. 🙂 You know, I was expecting criticism, I don’t know, it wasn’t easy to go public just like that, and I was reluctant to start writing online in my second language, but I’ve always received positive comments. The bad ones were extremely rare, and the people criticizing never had the guts to reveal their identity, while I do reveal mine. Good luck at the contest!

  14. Hi Marija!
Haven’t been here too often recently but couldn’t visit without wishing the blog a happy birthday! Your blog is one of the best sources for tennis news and you always do a fantastic job. May you continue blogging for many years to come. Congratulations, you deserve it! 🙂

  15. Congratulations. As a professional journalist who’s happily contributed to this blog – and hopes to continue to do so – I can’t express enough what a truly excellent job I think you do. You put many professional companies to shame with your level of commitment and fresh news stories. The blog is really a credit to you and you deserve much praise and success for it. A very happy 4th Birthday for the blog and may we all still be here to celebrate it’s 40th!

    Best Wishes,

    David Alejandro Fearnhead
    Author and Journalist

  16. Dafe, as I told you on Facebook, your comment pretty much found me speechless 🙂

Patricia, it’s been a pleasure meeting you and I’m always glad to help new bloggers 🙂 I haven’t noticed you joined the giveaway though. Why not do so? I figure it’s always cool to get something for free 🙂

Bróna, thanks so much and I appreciate you being around here for such a long time. 😉 Even if you come occasionally, it’s always great to have you here. And you should also join the giveaway! 🙂

  17. Hey Marija! I’ve already joined the contest, but there I’m called “Pati”. It’s because this is the name I’m using on facebook 😉

  18. Congratulation on your 4th birthday!!!

I just found out… Sorry to not congratulate you before 🙂 Now I have a 3 month old daughter and I don’t have the time to spend surfing the net as before hahaha!

    Hope you are doing Great!
    Cheers
    Jess

  19. Hello Marija. Congratulations on your 4th birthday! I hope there are many many more birthdays to come.

  20. Karunya, thank you. Join the birthday giveaways, even though you’ve already been the winner in my contests. 🙂

  21. Happy 4th Birthday Women’s Tennis Blog and Marija! I remember way back when there weren’t many tennis blogs around yet and you and Erwin at TSF were the only bloggers I knew. How times have changed – in a great way of course.

I wish you and your blog all the best. It always seems strange that we’ve never met since we’ve communicated a bunch over the years. Maybe we will one day. I can only hope.

  22. RiCH, it’s awesome how times have changed. When I look back at our early days, it seems so distant and vintage in a way, with only a handful of blogs and readers 🙂 Who would’ve thought… It’s so great that our blogs are still running and we’re still in touch.

You know you have a reliable contact in Serbia. If you come, I’ll definitely meet you. Do feel invited!
