Sony Ericsson launches behind-the-scenes insight into lives of six WTA players

Bethanie Mattek Sands, Heather Watson, Alize Cornet, Sabine Lisicki, Sorana Cirstea and Dominika Cibulkova have been chosen to be a part of Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Hot Shots campaign – a web-based TV show which will follow the tennis stars as they travel the world on tour.

The six participating players were announced in Miami, ahead of the Sony Ericsson Open, and Sony Ericsson brand ambassador, Maria Sharapova, was also there.

The series is supposed to bring both on and off court lives of players closer to fans, as players will use their Xperia smartphones to record their happenings and will then upload those videos and photos to their Facebook and Twitter pages. The players will also get tips from celebrity mentors, meet celebrities from the world of entertainment and perform stunts.

Players will be growing their online fan base, by maintaining their own Facebook page and Twitter accounts with engaging updates to help sign up followers. At the end of the year, the player that has generated the most support will win a Sony Ericsson support deal, a €100,000 prize, as I understand.

The most comprehensive info about these webisodes you can find here: Xperia Hot Shots Facebook page and a dedicated YouTube channel.

I watched all the videos, they were awesome! Dominika's was funny. Also I better understand Bethanie Mattek's unconventional wardrobe. I like this mix of girls too, it's not the usual suspects.

I always like when they have off court videos of the players.

Mirjana, Sorana reminds me of Ivanovic, only with a more mature face. They are both incredibly pretty and I also love how the adidas line looks on Sorana, especially because of her darker complexion.

Sarah, I agree, the selection of players is great, all of them have interesting personalities, but they haven't picked the usual suspects as you say.

Heather Watson? Is that even a tennis player? I think they should have picked at least one player in the top 10 in my opinion…
