Maria Sharapova scores first victory of the season in Memphis
Three-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharpova started the 2010 season with a first-round loss to Maria Kirilenko at the Australian Open, but has now scored a very convincing victory at the International-level event called Regions Morgan Keegan Champs / Cellular South Cup.
Top-seeded Sharapova finished her second match of the season in just 51 minutes, losing only three points on her first serve and a total of two games to defeat world No.101 Shenay Perry 6-0 6-2 and reach the second round.
The Russian world No.15 is making her second appearance in Memphis. Six years ago she reached the semifinals at the tournament. (photo Mister E)

Anyhow, I am just feeling bit strange cause she is wearing the same outfit like some girls on the tour. It is not exactelly strange, but really unusual for her. I mean she looked better in Masha uniques.

Well interesting to see Sharapova play in Memphis
this should be slam dunk contest for her to make
to the final. I really don't see any competition
for her. I mean Bethanie mattek sands at one
time was a good player in 2008 who made it far
in Wimbledon in 2008. But its 2yrs later and she
has fallen out of the top 100, and well there is
Vania king, but I can't possibly see her upsetting
Masha, even though I like Vania. And then there
is Oudin at the bottom half of the draw I guess
she would be the favorite to make it to the final.
But its funny how all the players who played
last week in all the tournaments either have
lost, or retired with injuries, so if she does
make it that far, more power to Oudin and respect
to her game!. May the best person win!
