Maria Sharapova holding hands with Sasha Vujacic

It’s true: Maria Sharapova is in a relationship with Sasha Vujacic.

Maria Sharapova holding hands with Sasha Vujacic

A few days ago Matt Cronin tweeted about Sharapova dating the Lakers player, and the picture of them holding hands proves it was not only a gossip. (via Forty Deuce)

I know that this is quite superficial, but most of the previous Masha fan objection to this relationship has been of such nature; at least for once, the pair look height appropriate. I believe he is a basketball pro AND a Croation, now that says a lot about height.

  2. nacho on November 10th, 2009

ohhh noooooo Maria!! i have lost you!!! LoL.

  3. Grega on November 10th, 2009

Croation!?!? Do you mean Croatian? He's Slovenian btw… If you know where is that counry…

  4. Teerin on November 10th, 2009

Maria's never been like this before, when did all the PDA start? It's probably the guy, he's dated a bunch of girls (and Paris Hilton), or maybe Maria is so in love. Whatever floats your boat, Maria.

But when you break up, or something goes wrong, I will NOT see you drop in the rankings with awful results.

  5. Lilly on November 10th, 2009

I'm not a Maria fan-come to this awesome site a lot and I don't know if you caught on lol, but hey, the girl looks happy, so I'm at for this.

  6. Lilly on November 10th, 2009

all* not at-need to grammar check lol.

  7. Marija on November 10th, 2009

Zuleika, I noticed that too. I'm happy for Maria. And yeah, he's Slovenian.

Teerin, is this the first time we see Maria holding hands with someone? I think it is.

Lilly, don't worry about grammar. ;)

His father Vaso Vujačić is a Serbian basketball coach. He has one brother, Aljosa Bjekovic, and one sister, Nina Bjekovic.

Vujacis is Serbian born in Slovenia/exd Yogoslavia/.Looks like Marija is into Serbian guys.First Novak Djokovic and now Vujacic.
By the way Sahsa's father was a baskeball coch for Serbian team.Years back Slovenia than repablic in ex Yogoslavia offerd his father a job there and Sasha was born in Slovenia but he is devoted Serbian Orthodox.
Serbian guys are getting the best chicks in the World !!

  10. bb on November 10th, 2009

SO true M Vujacic…Jaric with Lima, Vujacic with Sharapova. I guess there is something that attracts them to Serbs!

Sasha is indeed Serb, but he was born and raised in Slovenia…similar to Nikola Tesla's childhood…

    thanks for the update Marija!

  11. Teerin on November 11th, 2009

Yeah, probably the first time she's shown affection to someone publicly.

And M Vujacic, I don't think she was dating Novak. They were just fooling around, or they might have, but it was pretty short. Other than that, she's bee dating only American men.

  12. Teerin on November 11th, 2009

    BTW IN JANUARY!!!

OH MY EFFING GOD SHE'S COMING TO THAILAND WHILE I'LL BE STUDYING ABROAD!!

But I should be flying on January 10, she'll be here on the 2. I'll beg my mother to buy me tickets and we'll drive to Hua Hin (which has one of the best beaches). Maria, you better not cancel this. And I hope I'll still be in Thailand at the time.

    Woohoo! Maria in Thailand!

Hey Nacho, I still think you have a shot! According to the shady information that I gathered from unreliable sources, says that after Divapova is through dating this guy, she will be looking to date someone named Nacho. :P

Teerin, I hope that you don't pee in your pants if you see Divapova in your homeland. :P

  15. jacob on November 11th, 2009

so marija – off season = RETROSPECTIONS!

  16. Teerin on November 11th, 2009

Ha, thanks Jacob and Carlos – I'm gonna try not to. :D

  17. nacho on November 11th, 2009

LOL carlos!! hahah those are good news for me!!

  18. Marija on November 11th, 2009

M Vujacic, Maria has a great chamistry with Novak, but it's only friendship chemistry definitely, if there is such a thing.

Teerin, I'm glad you'll probably see Maria in your native country. :)

Jacob, I haven't forgotten about the retors. :) I'm planning to do some over the weekend.

  19. nacho on November 11th, 2009

OMG i didn't know maria is coming to southamerica in december!! hahaha but she is visiting only chile and brazil too bad she's not coming to my country!! :(

  20. Carlos on November 12th, 2009

Hey Nacho, take a plane, train, row in a canoe, or ride a burro; but go see your beloved one. BTW wear a diaper -adult size- so you won't make any stops, and just in case you lose control when you see your future ex-girlfriend. :P

  21. jacob on November 12th, 2009

hey guys – where are you all from? its great im communicating with europeans, south americans, asians and australians!

  22. Carlos on November 12th, 2009

Jacob, I'm in the U.S. based in Los Angeles to be exact.

  23. Teerin on November 12th, 2009

    Thank you Marija. :)

Jacob, I'm from Thailand. I'll be studying abroad in different places so I'll be here until January. Where are you from?

  24. Teerin on November 12th, 2009

Carlos, I have a cousin in LA/Alhambra, San Diego, and San Francisco actually. It's quite near. :P

  25. nacho on November 12th, 2009

carlos i don't think i could make it the only way to get there is by plane and it's too expensive! i'll have to wait :(

    Jacob i'm from Colombia!

  26. Carlos on November 12th, 2009

Yeah, I can imagine the cost Nacho, price of plane ticket, hotel room, food, and the tickets for the event, it mounts to a lot of money. I don't recommend that you sell your soul to the devil for the money :P .

Teerin, I'm in Hollywood, by car Alhambra is about 45 minutes away depending on traffic. If you are familiar with the L.A. traffic you know is a pain on the butt specially rush hour. San Diego is about two and a half hour drive which is not bad. San Francisco is pretty far, by car you are looking at an eight hour drive, probably 45 minutes to an hour by plane. Have you had the chance to visit L.A?

  27. Bróna on November 12th, 2009

Ooh, this is interesting. He's better looking than Charlie and he and Maria make a nice couple. I was surprised to see that Maria and Charlie had broken up.

Nacho, that's unlucky than she's not visiting your country!

Jacob, I am from Ireland. Just in case you're wondering :P

Marija, I am REALLY looking forward to those retrospections! :)

  28. Macho Nacho on November 12th, 2009

Ha! This is hilarious! 27 comments about Maria's relationship! This is amazing!

  29. Marija on November 13th, 2009

Nacho, I think I read somewhere that the exhibition match against Gisela Dulko has been cancelled.

Bróna, I'm glad so many of you like the retrospections. I promise I'll post one over the weekend. :)

By the way, I'm from Novi Sad, Serbia, as you may know.

  30. Teerin on November 13th, 2009

Nacho, when I become a millionaire, I'll buy you tickets to the US Open. :P

Marija, yeah one of them was cancelled but she still has two more in South America though.

Carlos, yes, I have. And I absolutely love it there. I did consider studying there since I can just live there with my cousin, but I have plenty of other choices since I also have a relative in the UK, France, and Virginia but for some reason we ended up with New Zealand. I look forward to studying in the UK though.

I do visit/will visit from time to time though, I love Venice Beach. And I fell in love with Taco Bell (yeah it's fastfood, but we don't have them here so :D ).

  31. Carlos on November 14th, 2009

Teerin, Taco Bell is pretty good specially Mexican Pizzas. Every time that someone brings up Taco Bell the first thing that crosses my mind is the story of the late 90s of the college (American) football player who got stuck in a drive through window due a Mexican Pizza incident. Like I told Ms. Marija my favorite fast food are burgers from In N Out.

I do not like Venice Beach so much neither I like Santa Monica Beach, too may people . I like Sycamore Beach, is a good beach where my family used to go. It got a litte deteriorated after the hurricane of 1982, it also destroyed the Santa Monica Pier. Sycamore Beach is after Pepperdine University. I haven't been there in ages.

If you decide to come to L.A. and study may I suggest private school, public schools are a disaster.

Maybe we all should start a charity and raise money for the good cause of helping Nacho go see his future ex-girlfriend. :P

  32. Teerin on November 15th, 2009

I did try In N Out and the burger is sooo good, my cousin got it for me, I have to admit whether that was me being hungry waiting though. :P

I haven't heard of Sycamore Beach, but if it's not too far I'll probably give it a visit next time. When I was at Venice, I came across a few African Americans who made their own songs/albums, etc. and in the end, I couldn't do anything but bought a bunch of them. Oh well, I tried to avoid but it's unavoidable. They were nice enough to give me their autograph and wrote me a thank you and stuff though. :D

Yes, I've been studying in a private school all my life. However, I don't think public schools in the US are that bad, if you compare it to here. Anyway, I don't think I'll be able to attend public schools because I'm not a US citizen, if I want to be a US citizen, my cousin will have to adopt me. We did talk about that a few times. :P

    And we should. :D

  33. Teerin on November 15th, 2009

Lol, I messed up the first sentence of the first paragraph.

** I have to admit I don't know whether it was the best burger I've ever had or it was simply me being hungry waiting. :P ***

  34. nacho on November 15th, 2009

hahaha teerin thak you so much i'll be waiting!! :p

  35. Carlos on November 16th, 2009

Yeah, you have to wait about 10-15 minutes to get the burgers, but it is worth the wait.

Sycamore beach is a small unknown beach.

For the experience that you had on Venice Beach is the reason that I don't like it. Too many people, street performers trying to get you to give them money, vendors trying to sell you stuff, and the things like food and suvenirs are expensive there, all in all is a tourist trap. I had a similar experience a couple of months ago on Hollywood Blvd. I was there taking pictures and a young African-American guy came up to me with his head phones told me to listen to the song that he was listening, he said he was singer. I was polite to him and told him that it was pretty good. He asked me where I was from, I told him I was from the Valley, he said, "What are you doing here pretending to be a tourist?" He shook my hand and left.

Wow, someone her height. Finally. I thought Maria was a robot, but holding hands with a guy? Earth shaking. lol.
