Elena DementievaElena Dementiva captured the 2009 Olympus US Open Series women’s title. The Russian won the Rogers Cup, and reached the semifinals of Stanford and Cincinnati.

Flavia Pennetta took the second place. The Italian was tied with Jelena Jankovic, but the Serb came in third, having won less Olympus US Open Series matches this year.

At the US Open 2009, the world No.4 Dementieva will compete for $2.6 million, the largest payout in tennis history – $1.6 million for winning the US Open and a $1 million bonus for winning the US Open and the Olympus US Open Series.

  1. Ahw, too bad, if Flavia hadn’t reach the semifinal in New Haven, Maria would be in the top 3. 😛

    Anyway, Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day happened yesterday. Some great photos of Roger, Maria, Serena, and Andy together. 😛

  2. she really deserve it!!!!…the Arthur Ashe Kid’s day gather an interesting group of players…I like it…It was a bounding experience for players like maria and serena who have a great rivalry on court. Full of laughs and the kids had and amazing day!!!

  3. I got to go last year because my kids organization/job was honored at the US Open, and it was decent. The luckiest kids are the ones nearest to the entrance/exit onto the court because they get the autographs, but it’s nearly impossible for anyone else to. And you can’t even hear the performers that well lol.
