30. Agnes Szavay
31. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
32. Anna Chakvetadze

Let’s comment a bit on some of the seeds. First of all, I believe no one perceives top seed Dinara Safina as being on top any more after her meltdown in the recent Roland Garros final.

Last year’s finalists, Venus and Serena Williams, are still one of the strongest contestants, especially a five-time Wimbledon champion Venus.

It’s interesting to note that Maria Sharapova is seeded 24th, even though her current ranking is only No.59. She was privileged because of her status of a former champion, and that privilege will ease the draw for her as she’ll meet top players a bit later in the tournament.

I’m expecting Chinese starts Zheng Jie and Li Na to do well on Wimbledon grass. Zheng was a semifinalist last year, while Li has recently reached a final in Birmingham, also on grass.

All right, I’ll mention Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, this time by saying I'm prepared for the worst. Here you are, a total lack of pressure.

I think that past Wimbledon showings dictate that Venus and Serena should be seeded as 1 and 2.

P!nky, I think I'm not allowed to comment on anything right now, I mean, just when I praised the Chinese players, they lost in Eastbourne. Li Na actually retired with an abdominal strain, while Zheng Jie lost to Aleksandra Wozniak. However, I have faith in both Wozniacki and Cirstea.

    Marcia, good reasoning.

And Richard, based on what we've seen, there is no reason not to think like that.

Hi marija.. it feels nice to be back here in your amazong blog!! well let's see women tennis is going through hard times the top players are not making worth the status they have.. i think wimbledon could be for any girl that have a good fortnight! venus is the favorite she always does well at wimby so we never can count her out.. serena is favorite we all know that she brings out the best at the big venues.. i think Maria has pretty good chances to get far in this wimbledon i hope she does well, i love her!! the teenage sensation of course wozniacki, azarenka, cirstea they can be a surprise.. i dont wanna count safina out, i'm not a big fan of her but.. i don't know i think she can surprise us.. well anybody who wins the title this year apart from venus and serena will be a surprise haha!!

    thank you marija!!!

I hope Maria continues to progress in her comeback. I want to see her enter the second week of the tournament. And I also want to see Safina redeem herself.

I guess Victoria Azarenka would be the rising star in Wimbledon 2009..she's so young, talented and beautiful..

Nacho, thanks for everything, I'm glad to have you back. I absolutely think the same way you do.

I agree with everything you said Marija. I don't think you can't look past Venus and Serena as favourites for the title, but something tells me that Venus won't win it this year, I don't know why. I hope Sharapova will go deep into the second week and I think that she has a good chance to do so. I think that Caroline Wozniacki's first GS quarterfinal could come at Wimbledon, and I hope to see Azarenka in the second week aswell. As for Ivanovic and Jankovic, well, that's another story altogether!

  8. Marija

Bróna, I'm also expecting Sharapova to do much better than some other higher seeded players.

  9. P!nky

I predict that no one we are mentioning in the comments is going to win the final. Who that is I don't know. How about Dementieva for the title. anywho it will be a good tournement. So let's let the sparks fly!

its so hard to predict these days. i mean, anyone could take it out!

The draw has been released and.. well I don't know what to say.. interesting? Ana Ivanovic and Venus Williams could have an interseting match-up in the fourth round (assuming Ana gets there, she has to beat the likes of Samantha Stosur or Jelena Dokic). Serena Williams could have a possible quarterfinal match against Victoria Azarenka or Maria. Maria has Nadia Petrova in her draw again, this time third round.
