Ana Ivanovic organizing a WTA tournament in Belgrade

Ana IvanovicAna Ivanovic and her team are working on bringing a WTA tournament to Ana’s hometown of Belgrade in Serbia.

The tournament could begin October 12th, 2009 in Belgrade Arena and could replace the $220,000 Linz event.

The initiatives for bringing a WTA tournament to Belgrade started last year, but apparently the negotiations haven't been as fast as predicted.

World No.5 Ana Ivanovic and her team are ready to bring sponsors and top tennis players to Belgrade.

I can’t wait to see the outcome of this story. I don’t believe in anything until I see the tickets on sale. (source in Serbian: Blic, photo: ivanovic-ana.com)

I think it’s about time. And if Belgrade can put forward a good proposal then why not. There are too many tired tournaments on the circuit in my opinion.
