Jelena Dokic to play Generali Ladies Linz

Jelena DokicFormer world number four Jelena Dokic has been given a wildcard to enter the Generali Ladies Linz tournament in Austria.

The organizers of the Generali Ladies Linz decided to hand Dokic a wildcard because they wanted to give their share in returning the Serbian-born Australian player to the major tennis scene.

The 25-year-old Dokic played in the final of the Tier II tournament in Linz in 2001 when she lost to American Lindsay Davenport.

Dokic played only one match in 2007, but managed to climb to No.181 in the rankings. This season Dokic won three ITF titles: Florence, Caserta and Darmstadt.

Serena Williams was spotted on the Hawaiian waves, surfing with her rapper boyfriend Common.

The tennis star is currently on a break from the WTA Tour, nursing an ankle injury. Haha, I didn’t know surfing was good for healing ankles! Well, Maria Sharapova has already taught us that "injury" often means "don't want to play".

Serena exchanged playing tennis for riding on the waves of love. Who can blame her.

Jelena Jankovic highly likely to finish the year as No.1

Jelena Jankovic highly likely to finish the year as No.1Jelena Jankovic is currently the top-ranked women’s tennis player in the world, for a second week in succession, and judging by the present situation, she’ll most probably keep that prestigious spot until the end of this year regardless of results to come.

The 23-year-old Serb first reached the No.1 spot in August, but, disappointingly, occupied it for only one week. However, Jankovic proved she deserves to be top-ranked without a doubt when she won three straight singles titles (Beijing, Stuttgart, and Moscow).

Jankovic has built enough of a lead on her rivals, and is now expected to hold the No.1 position for much longer. Still, the projection that she’ll ride out of the year as No.1 is based on a couple of assumptions. Read more »
