Ana Ivanovic survives Vera Dushevina at US Open

Ana Ivanovic at 2008 US OpenTop seed Ana Ivanovic scored an unconvincing victory over Vera Dushevina of Russia in the first round of the US Open.

The Serb looked as if on a way to an easy and quick victory when leading 6-1 4-2 and 0-30 on the Dushevina serve, but in the end Ivanovic earned her spot in the second round after surviving a scare and playing three sets to eventually win 6-1 4-6 6-4.

BTW: Ivanovic is not wearing the dress we thought she would, so luckily she differs from Caroline Wozniacki (not much, frankly, but still…). Anyway, it's so funny, she's wearing the same outfit to the one she replaced her Wimbledon dress with (phew, in different color though!) — and remember that her Wimbledon dress was the white version of the dress she was supposed to wear at the US Open. Almost embarrassing! (photo: Getty Images)

My favorite player is Jelena Jankovic. I know she's far from perfect, and sometimes she pisses me off with her behavior, but for some reason she'll always be special for me.
