Jelena Jankovic after French Open semifinal loss: promising to "get drunk" or do "anything that makes me feel better"

Jelena Jankovic at the 2008 French OpenWorld No.3 Jelena Jankovic, extremely disappointed after losing the 2008 French Open semifinal (and who wouldn’t be), didn’t hide her emotions when talking to the press.

Asked what she would do to get over the defeat, she responded: "Kill myself?"

"No, I will have some dinner and maybe get drunk or do something. I don't know. Whatever makes me feel better."

Jankovic rallied from a set and 3-1 down to lead 3-1 in the deciding set against fellow Serb Ana Ivanovic, but eventually lost the match to the more powerful opponent.

This match was especially important because the players were fighting for the No.1 spot in the world. Also, it was important for the 23-year-old Jankovic to finally win a Grand Slam semifinal, as she had previously lost all the three she played. In addition, her head-to-head record against Ivanovic is quite miserable — Ivanovic leads 6-1.

Jankovic was crying so hard after the loss to Ivanovic that she didn't want to talk about the match with the media.

"I am very disappointed but I still cannot go and kill myself and put myself down," she said.

"The year is still long. There are still two more Grand Slams, many big tournaments to play. I still have to work hard and believe in myself, and I will achieve my goal." (via Reuters, photo: Tennis Channel)

Jelena is a great player and I love her game. She is my favorite tennis player. I was crying when I watch match Jankovic-Ivanovic.
