Peter Bodo: "Jelena Jankovic can break anyone, anytime"

Jelena Jankovic in the Sony Ericsson Open finalThe Sony Ericsson Open final between Jelena Jankovic and Serena Williams was extremely fun to watch. Tennis writer Peter Bodo wrote an article just as interesting. I suggest you to read the whole piece, but I'll present you the quotes I like most.

Peter Bodo seems to be equally impressed as me by Jelena Jankovic’s athleticism and her fantastic defense. I like the way he put it: "Just because she's gone off your TV screen or out of your peripheral vision doesn't mean the ball she's chasing won't come spinning back, sky-high over the net." Haha, so true. That’s one of the reasons I enjoy watching Jankovic’s matches so much.

And this is how Bodo felt at the beginning of the Sony Ericsson Open final: "You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll throw popcorn at the screen and demand your money back. We were on the verge of that as Williams jumped out to a 6-1, 3-0 lead, with Jankovic spraying balls so badly that she sometimes doubled over in embarrassment at the baseline."

But then, the rollercoaster started, and Bodo describes it nicely: "That's not tennis, folks, it's anarchy, born of Jankovic's unique game: She can break anyone, anytime (even Williams), but because of her so-so serve, she can be broken by anyone. anytime (especially Williams). She turns a match into Chinese handcuffs with one player at each end." (photo via Yahoo)
