Mauresmo training again

After Amelie Mauresmo had her appendix out last month, she had to stay inactive for two weeks. These days she announced on her official website that she is feeling fine and that she started working out again. She's been jogging in Geneva surrounded by her dogs. World's No. 3 female player also said that she can't wait to get back to the court again; two weeks of inactivity are a lot for a professional athlete and she started feeling restless.

Top 10 stays the same

This Monday none of the top ten players changed their position in the WTA rankings. Even though Nadia Petrova lost in yesterday's final of Bausch & Lomb Championships, she stayed world's number 7 female tennis player.

On the other hand, there are some changes in the top twenty. The first-time winner of the title at Amela Island, France's Tatiana Golovin, jumped one spot (from 20 to 19) and took the place of Vera Zvonareva. Russia's Dinara Safina also went up one spot (to number 12), exchanging places with compatriot Elena Dementieva.

Golovin wins the title

France's Tatiana Golovin defeated top seed and defending champion Nadia Petrova of Russia 6-2, 6-1 at Amelia Island, Florida. This is Tatiana's first time to win this clay-court tournament; it's also her first WTA Tour title. Last three times, she was the runner-up.

Golovin, ranked No. 20 in the world also said: "The experience of beating Venus (Williams) and Ana (Ivanovic) this week, especially Ivanovic since I had never beaten her in the past, it gives you confidence. Today I knew that I could beat Petrova. I knew I had the weapons to do so."

Winning this match, Golovin took her head-to-head record against Petrova to 5-1.

Ivanovic, Golovin, Bammer and Petrova — Final Four of Bausch & Lomb

The first player to enter the semifinals at Amelia Island was sixth-seeded Ana Ivanovic who defeated second seed and compatriot Jelena Jankovic 7-5, 6-3. In the following match, Venus Williams was ousted by France's Tatiana Golovin 6-2, 6-3. The third member of the last four is Austria's Sybille Bammer who crushed Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. The last match of the quarterfinals was played by two Russian players; Nadia Petrova, the defending champion, advanced to the semifinals by beating fifth-seeded Dinara Safina 6-4, 7-5. The semifinal matches are scheduled to start today at 1:00 PM local time.

Tatiana Golovin — second member of the final four at Amelia Island

France's Tatiana Golovin crushed American Venus Williams 6-2, 6-3 to reach the last four of the Bausch and Lomb Championships. In the semifinals world No. 20 Golovin will face Ana Ivanovic of Serbia who is ranked 17. Ana and Tatiana played against each other five times, and Ana was a victor all five times.
